Transparency is key and we want you to know exactly what you are consuming every time you eat one of our gelato’s.
Whey Protein Isolate
Whey protein isolate (‘WPI’) has a very high nutritional value, and is one of the best dietary sources of high quality protein, containing a complete essential amino acid profile. WPI has a whole stack of health benefits including;
increased lean muscle toning and fat loss;
increased muscular strength; and
improved recovery from training
Our WPI is 99.9% lactose free, GMO-free and helps give our gelato its body and texture.
Milk Protein Isolate (Casein)
Milk Protein Isolate (or Casein) is a high quality, slow digesting protein with an exceptional amino acid profile. Casein’s sustained amino acid release keeps amino acid concentration high in the blood allowing for steady and continuous absorption - meaning a reduction in potential muscle breakdown (catabolism) whilst improving recovery time and boosting muscle growth.
Casein helps give our gelato its body and creamy texture.
The original super-food! Olive oil is great source of antioxidants and healthy monounsaturated fats including Oleic acid, Omega-3 and Omega-6.
Monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats are known as the “healthy fats” as they are good for your heart, your cholesterol, and your overall health. These fats can help to:
lower the risk of heart disease and stroke;
lower bad LDL cholesterol levels, while increasing good HDL; and
reduce blood pressure and inflammation within the body.
Most importantly olive oil increases the overall richness of our gelato as well as giving it it’s smooth mouth feel.
Erythritol gives consumers a bad first impression due to it’s extremely unnatural and chemically sounding name - but let’s set the record straight.
Erythritol is a sugar alcohol derived from fermenting natural starches in fruits and vegetables. The real kicker is that it doesn’t cause a glycemic response within the body, meaning that it doesn’t spike blood sugar or insulin levels.
What makes it even better is that it has practically 0 (*zero, *no) calories.
Unlike other sugar alcohols, about 90% of erythritol is absorbed into the blood and excreted as urine before it reaches the colon meaning the potential digestive side effects are slim to none when compared to other sugar alcohols on the market such as xylitol and sorbitol.
Stevia is an all-natural sweetener extracted from the stevia rebaudiana plant and is about 250-300 times sweeter than sugar.
Stevia is essentially calorie and carb-free! Because it is so much sweeter than sugar, the small amounts required add no meaningful calories or carbs to your diet.
Using stevia allows us to give fiftein its kickass sweetness, whilst reducing its overall calorie count and Glycaemic Index.
Vegetable glycerin, or glycerol, is a clear, odourless liquid produced from plant oils - typically palm oil, soy or coconut oil.
Basically it is clear, syrup like liquid that helps give fiftein its creamy texture whilst allowing it to stay scoopable, rather than turning into an ice block, when frozen.
Malt is a type of cereal grain, such as barley, that has undergone a drying process known as malting.
The malt helps give fiftein its body, whilst keeping it scoopable when frozen. It also makes the overall flavour a little richer and sweeter.
Malt has made a bit of a comeback in recent years claiming a whole host of nutritional benefits including:
